Having spent the best part of 40 years looking through a viewfinder of a stills or video camera, sitting in front of a computer editing photos or videos, producing websites and managing content and social media accounts for organisations or individuals, it’s a very strange feeling to now say “I’m retired".

Despite no longer taking on commercial paid work, it’s virtually impossible to suddenly stop what you’ve been doing for the best part of your working life so, for the past few years I’ve been taking on work on a ‘pro-bono’ basis for church, charity or voluntary organisations. I hope that my experience, skills and equipment can now be put to good use by those who perhaps, don’t have the budget or funding to produce what they want or need for their media requirements.

2.4GHz wireless mics (again!)

This was a review I left on Amazon:

These wireless mics really took me by surprise. I spotted them on latestdeals.co.uk for £35.99 with a 50% discount giving a price of £17.99, for that price I couldn’t miss out.

I’m a retired video producer now working pro-bono for church, charity etc, so costs are important to me. I’ve used all types of mics over the years, usually well known professional brands so I looked forward to trying these when they arrived.

What more can I say - the quality left me speechless (no pun intended), OK they’re not Sennheiser or Rode quality but for the use I wanted they are an absolute bargain. Importing the video/audio to my edit system (Blackmagic Resolve Studio) I added just a touch of EQ, more for my personal liking than anything else.

The two receivers on one channel are unusual but are ideal for two talking heads in conversation and again in the edit they worked well, I also tested the wireless mic with my other 2.4Ghz wireless system and found no cross channel interference, allowing me to use Channel 1 and Channel 2 on my 4K JVC camera with 2 different 2.4Ghz systems.

These wireless mics have to be one of my bargain buys of the century.
NB - NO free products or financial remuneration from Amazon, Aodelan or Latestdeals was received for this review.

I was so impressed with these for performance / quality / price (still £17.99) that I bought another set - You can hear them in use here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=338MLfnYzoA

It is important to note these work on a legal UK frequency (2.4GHz), many units available do not and could lead to you receiving a fine if used.
