Adobe Express
Other than editing for exposure, colour, sharpness etc, a major use of photo editing apps or software, is to do a ‘cut-out’ and remove the subject from the background, the method most people have used for many years is Adobe Photoshop and there have been hundreds of tutorials on the various methods to achieve this. Dedicated programs came along to try to make this process easier and, to some extent they were very successful.
Come forward to today and AI has revolutionised the process with many ‘online’ offerings, some are free but only allow you to download a low res version unless you buy credits, although costs wise, it’s not expensive to get very good results from these online websites and on the occasions I’ve used them, a smaller low res version of the ‘cut-out’ has been adequate for my use.
I have an Adobe account, although I don’t make use of it as I’ve no current Adobe products. Last week Adobe emailed me to say, as I’d not logged in for some time they would close the account if I didn’t login with 90 days, so I logged in.
I was amazed at all the new features and offerings on the site including ‘Adobe Express’ a free feature for account holders. It was then I spotted a free background removal tool and just had to try it. The results were every bit as good and possibly better than the online sites I’d been using with no limit on resolution, there were other features of Adobe Express I may use in the future, if you’ve not checked the Adobe website out for a while, it might just surprise you.
